This is really my Note-to-Self so I don’t forget what I did the next time I need to do the same thing so if anyone has a better way that they want to share, I’m happy to have the comments.

I’m usually doing these from Webinar Recordings where the first 10-20 minutes are full of beeps and signing in participants.

1. Download mp3 file, rename to something that is meaningful.

2. Open the file in Quicktime

3. Start the recording and then scrub the diamond playhead till you reach the
beginning of the Webinar. Note the elapsed time. (circled)

4. Go to EDIT > TRIM and the yellow bar appears while your recording plays.
Move the yellow bars where you want. You’ll see the time read-out (circled)
Note all the dead space at the end.

5. Move the end bar up to the end of the recording and then go to
FILE > SAVE AS and it will ask you if you to TRIM & SAVE. You do. This will result in a .mov file

Not only is WordPress the best and most intuitive platform out there, I’ve also found the greatest, most flexible and best supported theme. Yes, there are free themes but what is their motivation to keep updating and supporting that theme? WordPress is constantly updating and that can cause unsupported themes to break. I can save you months of time trying to figure this all out for yourself with trial and error.
You know if you search the web, there are thousands of sites claiming to have the best way of doing things you want to do and things you’ve never even heard of.

Let’s cut through all the yada, yada and get down to the business of YOUR business. You need a website, you need to be able to easily create pages and you don’t want to be stuck with a theme that won’t let you do something different on your pages, like a different sidebar on one page, or two sidebars on one, none on another. This theme lets you choose your options from a dropdown list when you create your page. Couldn’t be simpler or more flexible. But unless you want to wade through over 200 pages of “how-to” and learn HTML, CSS and PHP, you’ll still need someone to set it up for you.

Now, here’s some really good stuff. The Plug-ins. These are “extras” that you can install into your WP site to allow extra functions. Some of these are free also, but the one worth paying for has just been released and it allows you to create a Mobile Landing Page for your site. This means that your mobile page can be viewed on over 500 mobile devises at an optimal size so use it with maps and discount coupons to get mobile customers in your door.

Here’s how it works.

This fresh new restaurant in Oro Valley, Skrambles, needed a logo that was fresh and reflected quality ingredients and a casual atmosphere. Giving the spelling a “K” made it less ordinary and had the benefit of a matching internet address. The back of the hen follows the swoop of the letters while the hen looks curiously at its rather unique offspring which also reflects some of the unique egg recipes offered at Skrambles Cafe.
